Why Do I Have to Select All Performance Levels in a Form? | Sibme Help Center

If a Form won't submit until every dimension has a Performance Level, the Framework in that Form is set to Required. Here's why, and what your account can change.

Written by TJ Hoffman

When you submit a Form that includes a Framework, you may see an error asking you to select a Performance Level for every dimension before you can submit. This happens on both the Web Platform and Mobile, and saving the Form on one device and submitting from another won't clear it. The Form is working as designed: the Form Template it was built from requires a Performance Level for every dimension in the Framework.

This article explains where that setting lives and the two ways an account can change it.

Who Is This Article For?

Based on the default User settings in the Sibme platform, you should have permission to complete this task if you are one of the User levels listed below. If you do not see the screens in this article, you can ask your administrator if you have permission.

  • Users

  • Admin

  • Super Admin

  • Account Owner

Any User filling out a Form may see this message. Changing the setting requires an Account Owner or Super Admin (copying a Form Template) or an Account Owner (editing a Framework).

Why This Happens

Every Form Template that includes a Framework has a Required toggle on the Framework module. When Required is on, every dimension in the Framework must have a Performance Level selected before the Form can be submitted. If any dimension is left blank, the Form shows an error and won't submit.

The setting belongs to the Form Template, not to you or your device, so it applies everywhere the Form is filled out.

Note: If you are filling out the Form and don't have permission to change the Form Template, you can either select a Performance Level for every dimension or ask your administrator about the options below.

Option 1: Copy the Form Template and Turn Off Required

Use this option if your account doesn't want Performance Levels to be required in this Form. Making a copy leaves the original Form Template, and any Forms already created from it, unchanged.

  1. Open your account's Form Templates and find the Form Template you want to change.

  2. Make a copy of the Form Template.

  3. Open the copy and find the Framework module.

  4. Turn off the Required toggle.

  5. Save and publish the new Form Template.

  6. Use the new Form Template going forward. You can archive the original so Users don't pick it by mistake.

Note: Forms that were already started from the original Form Template keep the original setting. To use the new setting, start a new Form from the copied Form Template.

Option 2: Add a "Not Observed" Performance Level to the Framework

Use this option if your account wants every dimension to have a response but needs a way to record that something wasn't seen. Required stays on, and the person filling out the Form selects Not Observed for any dimension they didn't observe.

  1. Go to Account Settings > Frameworks.

  2. Select the ⋯ (More) button on the Framework's row and Unpublish the Framework.

  3. Select the ⋯ (More) button in the Performance Level column and choose Edit.

  4. Add a Performance Level named Not Observed.

  5. Save and publish the Framework.

For step-by-step detail and screenshots, see Edit a Framework and Performance Level.

Important: Editing a Framework that has already been published and used in your account can affect analytics and existing Framework tags. Review Edit a Framework and Performance Level before making changes.

Which Option Should I Choose?

  • Choose Option 1 if responses to the Framework should be optional in this Form. Only Forms started from the new Form Template are affected.

  • Choose Option 2 if you want a complete record for every dimension and need a way to mark items that weren't observed. The change applies everywhere the Framework is used.
