What Are Synced Notes and Notes, and How Do They Work?

Sibme provides two ways to record and manage observation notes: Synced Notes and Notes. Each serves a unique purpose depending on your observation and feedback needs.

Who is this article for?

Based on the default user settings in the Sibme platform, you should have permission to complete this task if you are one of the user levels listed below. If you do not see the screens in this article, you can ask your administrator if you have permission.

1. Synced Notes

Synced Notes allow you to take time-stamped comments and feedback during an in-person observation while simultaneously recording the session using the Sibme app on your iOS or Android device.

How Synced Notes Work:

  • Initiate Synced Notes: Start the video recording from your Workspace in the Sibme iOS or Android app by tapping "Start Synced Notes.

.

  • Take Notes: Login to Sibme web version from your laptop or desktop and click on "Join Synced notes" in your Workspace to access page to type notes during the observation. Each note is time-stamped to align with the video recording.

  • Automatic Syncing: Once you stop recording from your iOS or Android device the video will automatically upload to your Workspace, and the notes will automatically sync with the video’s timeline.

Key Benefits:

  • Automatic Timeline Sync: Save time with notes directly linked to specific moments in the video.

  • Editable: You can adjust notes, tags, or timestamps after syncing.

  • Private Workspace: Synced Notes are available only in your Workspace unless you choose to share them.

2. Notes

Notes allow you to manually add time-stamped comments and feedback during or after an observation. While they include time stamps, they are not linked or synced to any video or audio recordings.

How Notes Work:

  • Manual Input: Type comments directly from the Sibme web platform in your Workspace or within a specific Huddle.

  • Time-Stamped: Notes are automatically time-stamped based on when you type them but remain independent of recordings.

  • Collaboration-Friendly: Notes added in Huddles are visible to other participants, making them useful for collaborative feedback.

Key Benefits:

  • Time-Stamped Feedback: Notes provide clear timing, even without being linked to recordings.

  • Versatility: Add notes in real time or afterward in both Workspace and Huddles.

  • Collaboration: Easily share and view feedback within Huddles to foster team discussions.

Which Should I Use?

  • Use Synced Notes when recording an in-person observation to sync feedback directly to the video timeline. This allows you to run Sibme AI, provides evidence of practice to support your notes, and enables those observed to reflect on your feedback, enriching post-observation conversations.

  • Use Notes if you’re providing time-stamped feedback independently of video or audio recordings, or collaborating in a Huddle for those individuals who are not comfortable with their performance being recorded.

Both options provide a streamlined way to capture, organize, and share valuable feedback, tailored to your specific needs.
