Sibme Copilot: AI Insights Mode | Sibme Help Center

AI Insights Mode puts your Artifacts in front of Sibme Copilot for grounded, informed feedback on your teaching.

Written by TJ Hoffman

AI Insights Mode is how you put a specific Artifact — or a set of Artifacts — in front of Sibme Copilot and ask about it. When you open it, Copilot analyzes that Artifact together with everything attached to it: its comments, tags, Attachments, Frameworks, and AI Reports. Sibme Copilot is Sibme's generative AI assistant, with broad knowledge of education plus specific knowledge of your classroom, drawn from the data you share with it. Working in AI Insights Mode is what turns a general question into powerful, informed feedback on your teaching.

This article covers how to open AI Insights Mode from anywhere in Sibme, how to steer the conversation with Prompts, and how to control what Copilot can see through the Context pane. For ready-made ways to use it, see the Sibme Copilot: AI Insights Mode Companion Resources; to run it across several Artifacts at once, see Select Multiple Artifacts for AI Insights.

Who Is This Article For?

AI Insights Mode is a premium feature, available only to Accounts that have purchased the Sibme AI package. When Sibme AI is enabled on an Account, every paid user Role has access to Sibme Copilot. If you don't see the Copilot options described here, contact our sales team to learn about Sibme AI, or ask your administrator whether it is enabled for your Account.

Two Ways to Talk to Copilot

Sibme Copilot answers in one of two ways, and it helps to know which one you're in:

  • Ask Anything. The blue Copilot button, available on internal pages, opens Copilot in its own window. Here Copilot answers general, education-related questions but does not reference the Artifact you're viewing.

  • AI Insights Mode. When you ask Copilot about the Artifact you're on, it grounds every answer in that Artifact and everything attached to it.

The two are always one click apart. If you click on the Copilot button while viewing an Artifact, a banner at the top points you back: "You can ask me anything here that doesn't reference «Artifact Name». Ask about «Artifact Name» instead?" Select the banner to drop straight into AI Insights Mode for that Artifact.

How to Open AI Insights Mode

Where the control lives depends on the kind of Artifact you're working with, but it always opens the same AI Insights Mode.

From a Video or Audio Artifact

Open any Video or Audio Artifact in your Workspace or a Huddle, then select Ask Copilot about this Artifact in the top right.

From a Resource

On a Resource in Document Commenting, the control sits at the annotation-tools level and uses the AI Insights icon. Roll over it to see the tooltip Ask Copilot about this Artifact.

To use AI Insights Mode with a document, all of its pages must be in a single file. You can build that file with How to Scan Documents into Sibme Using the Mobile App or by combining the pages with a tool like Adobe.

From Multiple Selected Artifacts

In your Workspace or a Huddle, select several Artifacts and choose Ask Copilot in the Multi-Artifact Action menu to analyze them together.

As on a single Artifact, the blue Copilot button is the Ask Anything path. Select it with Artifacts chosen and Copilot offers to focus on them: "Would you like to ask questions about the Artifacts on this page?" Select the prompt to open the Ask About – Selected Files window, or type a question to stay in Ask Anything.

Getting Started with Prompts

When you first open AI Insights Mode, Copilot greets you with a short intro message and four suggested Prompts. From here you can:

  • Select go on one of the suggested Prompts,

  • Open the full list from the Prompts button,

  • Type any education-related question or direction into the message box and press enter, or

  • Select Context to add more for Copilot to work from.

Note: If a Prompt is unavailable, it's because Copilot needs more to work with — add one or more related Artifacts in the Context pane so it has enough information to answer. For more ideas on how to use AI Insights Mode, see the Sibme Copilot: AI Insights Mode Companion Resources.

The Chat Box

The message box at the bottom of AI Insights Mode carries four controls:

  • Context — opens the Context pane, which shows everything Copilot can see.

  • Prompts — opens the full list of suggested Prompts.

  • History — opens your saved conversations.

  • + — uploads a file into the conversation.

The Context Pane: What Copilot Can See

By default, the Artifact is shared with Copilot to set the context for your conversation. If the Artifact is an Audio or Video Artifact, its transcript is shared automatically, and any existing comments, an attached Framework, AI Reports, and other Attachments come along with it.

To keep Copilot from using any one of these, deselect the checkbox next to that item in the Context pane to leave it out.

Adding More Context

Adding context is simpler. Instead of separate slots for each kind of Attachment, the Context pane gives you one large drop zone:

  • Drag and drop files into the drop zone — PDF, PNG, JPG, Word, and Excel (no media files).

  • Drop one file and you're asked to categorize it right away.

  • Drop several files and they all come in as Other, so you can recategorize each one afterward.

  • Select Add from Sibme to open the Pick and Share window and attach a Resource that's already in Sibme.

Sorting a file into a category helps Copilot understand what it is:

  • Lesson Plan

  • Instructional Materials

  • Slides

  • Student Work

  • Other — for anything that doesn't fit the categories above

Files you add are saved as attachments to your Audio or Video Artifact. You cannot attach files to Resources.

Once a Resource is attached, it appears as a tile with its category, and a blue + button sits at the bottom of the Context pane. Select that + to swap the pane for a full-pane drop zone with its own Add from Sibme button, so you can keep adding.

The Prompts Pane

The Prompts pane lists the suggested Prompts you can run with a single click. Select a category or search to find a specific Prompt, then run it. Close the pane with the X in its top-right corner.

History

Copilot saves your AI Insights conversations in the History panel. A session is saved automatically once you send your first prompt, and it keeps saving until you close the Chat panel or move to a different conversation or AI module. Open History from the message box; conversations are listed most-recent first. Close the pane with the X in its top-right corner.

Select the three dots on any conversation to:

  • Share it as a PDF to a Huddle or your Workspace,

  • Copy the text,

  • Export it as a PDF or Word file,

  • Rename it — helpful, since AI Insights conversations are all named Related Artifacts by default, or

  • Delete it.

Close the History pane with the X in the top-right corner.
