Many teachers keep their lesson plans, videos, and resources stored in Google Drive. With Google Drive for Desktop, you can access your Google Drive files right from your computer’s File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). This makes it easy to drag and drop your files directly into Sibme, just like any other file on your computer.

Who is this article for?

Steps to accomplish the task:

The first step is to download and install Google Drive for Desktop. This will add your Google Drive as a drive on your computer. After it is installed, files in Google Drive can be accessed like you would on your computer.

  1. Click Download Drive for Desktop.

  2. Open the downloaded file:

    • On Windows: Double-click the .exe file and follow the prompts.

    • On Mac: Double-click the .dmg file and drag Google Drive into Applications.

  3. Follow the setup steps to install.

After Google Drive for Desktop has been installed, Google Drive for Desktop will open and prompt you to sign in and choose how to sync your files. Please follow these steps:

  1. Once installed, Google Drive will open on your computer.

  2. Sign in with your Google account.

  3. Choose how you want Google Drive to sync files:

    • Stream files (recommended): Your files stay in the cloud and only download when you open them. This saves space on your computer.

    • Mirror files: A copy of all your Drive files is saved on your computer.

After setup, Google Drive will appear in:

  • Windows: File Explorer under “Google Drive”

  • Mac: Finder under “Google Drive”

You’ll now see your Google Drive listed just like other drives on your computer.

Now files can be dragged and dropped into a Workspace or Huddle. Here are the steps:

  1. Open Sibme and go to the location where the file will go.

  2. Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

  3. Locate the file in your Google Drive folder.

  4. Drag the file into Sibme’s until the "Drag files here to upload!" message appears.

That’s it! The file will upload into Sibme just like any other file on your computer.
