How do I transfer my edTPA portfolio?

Students and certification candidates can now submit edTPA portfolios directly from the Sibme platform. This feature must be enabled for your account by the Sibme team. Account Owners for each account must request the edTPA portfolio submission dashboard from [email protected].

Who is this article for?

Based on the default user settings in the Sibme platform, you should have permission to complete this task if you are one of the user levels listed below. If you do not see the screens in this article, you can ask your administrator if you have permission.

  • Users

  • Admin

  • Super Admin

  • Account Owner

Steps to accomplish the task:

Step 1: Register and Indicate Your Portfolio Platform System:

Register for edTPA at www.edTPA.com. Click Candidates in the top navigation menu, then click Register. Follow the instructions to create an account (for first time users) and to register for edTPA.

On the last screen of the registration process, click Next to proceed to indicate Sibme as your platform system.

You are now in the Pearson ePortfolio system. Click the edTPA Platform Provider button on the assessment tab.

If you inadvertently selected Pearson ePortfolio on the screen pictured above you can switch to Sibme by clicking the "Switch to edTPA Platform Provider" link on the subsequent screen.

After clicking the edTPA Platform Provider button, you are provided with an Authorization Key to facilitate your portfolio transfer. You will need to enter this key in Sibme when you are ready to transfer your portfolio to Pearson. You will be prompted to review and agree to the terms associated with your Authorization Key. The key will then be emailed to the address you provided during registration. You will also be able to obtain your Authorization Key at any time by logging into your account at www.edTPA.com

NOTE: Authorization keys are unique to the email address and assessment associated with them. Once you have entered your authorization key into the Sibme System (step 3, below), you cannot use that Authorization key with any other Sibme user ID, email address, or assessment.

NOTE: There are THREE Elementary Education Assessments you can choose in the Pearson platform with similar names:

Elementary Education: Literacy with Mathematics Task 4

Elementary Education Math Literacy Task 4

Elementary Literacy

When you choose your authorization key, and when you choose the portfolio in Sibme, you must choose the same assessment. Choose carefully when purchasing your Authorization key.

Step 2: Build your portfolio in Sibme

Log into Sibme on the web (app.sibme.com) and click on the edTPA button on the right side of the page

Choose the assessment for which you wish to submit an ePortfolio and click “Select”

Click on each task within the portfolio and select the appropriate resources and/or videos for each task.

You can choose to upload documents and resources directly from your computer, or from documents and resources stored with in Sibme huddles and Workspace.

The recommended file type for resources is PDF. You should convert your documents and resources to PDF before uploading to avoid file size limitations.

You can upload videos from Huddles or Workspace

Step 3: Transfer Portfolio to Pearson

Once you have finished adding the required resources and videos to your portfolio, click on the “Review and Transfer” button

Enter your Authorization Key.by clicking Verify Key

Can't find your Authorization Key? Refer to the email you received after registering and selecting your portfolio platform system, or sign in to your account on www.edTPA.com to obtain your Authorization Key.

Click on the “Transfer to Pearson” button once more after entering your Authorization Key this will take you to the final review page.

You can view attachments from this page to make sure your portfolio is accurate. Once you are satisfied with your portfolio, click the Transfer edTPA Portfolio button.

If you need to make changes to your portfolio after transferring to Pearson, click on the Cancel button next to your assessment from the edTPA dashboard in Sibme.

When the transfer has processed successfully, an email notification will be sent to the email address you provided when you registered for edTPA. When you receive this notification, sign in to the Pearson ePortfolio system at www.edTPA.com. Your transferred files are now available for you to review.

For more information on how to review and complete your portfolio once it has been transferred from Sibme, click here (important instructions begin on step 3).

Once you have completed your submission in Pearson, you can track your edTPA portfolio by clicking on the Track My edTPA Transfer button from the Sibme edTPA dashboard. Follow the log-in instructions once you click on the button to access the Pearson platform.

Resubmitting a Portfolio

If you are required to re-submit your portfolio by Pearson, you must first get a new authorization key from Pearson for your new portfolio. Once you have a new authorization key, return to Sibme, click "Cancel" (see screenshot above), and update your ePortfolio as needed. On the final step, click "Verify Key" to enter a new authorization key and then complete your transfer as you did the first time.
