The Three Goal States

  • Not Started: When a Goal is created, but the Owner has not yet added reflection, measurement, or evidence, an Action Item will be labeled as “Not Started.” If all Action Items associated with a Goal are still “Not Started” then the Goal will also be “Not Started.”

  • In Progress: After a Goal Owner or Collaborator with Evidence rights has started adding evidence, measurement values, or reflections to an Action Item, the Action Item will change from “Not Started” to “In Progress.” Once a single Action Item in a Goal is changed from “Not Started” to “In Progress” the state for the entire Goal will be “In Progress.” Additionally, a Goal will remain “In Progress” until all of the Action Items are either marked “Done” or “Reviewed.”

  • Incomplete: If an Action Item is not marked Done and the Action Item End Date has passed, the Action Item will be marked Incomplete. If any Action Item in a Goal is Incomplete, the Goal will also be marked Incomplete.

  • Done: A Goal Owner or a Collaborator with Evidence rights can mark an Action Item “Done” once the Action Item has one or more of the following attributes:

    • Reflection: There is text typed in the Reflection Box

    • Evidence: There is at least one artifact added to the Action Item as Evidence.

An Action Item can be marked Done even if the Current Measurement Value is not equal to the End Measurement Value. Once an Action Item is marked Done, only a Collaborator with Review Rights can mark it undone. Once all of the Action Items associated with a Goal have been marked Done, the Goal will also be marked Done.

  • Reviewed: If a Goal has a Collaborator assigned with Review rights, then the Reviewer will have the opportunity to mark an Action Item as Reviewed after it has been marked Done by the Owner or a Collaborator with Evidence rights. Once all Action Items associated with a goal have been marked Reviewed, the Goal will also be marked Reviewed automatically.
