NOTE: If you previously had Video Library videos with Subjects and Topics, your existing Subjects and Topics have been translated into Subcategories. Keep reading to learn more about Categories and Subcategories.

Categories and Subcategories allow you to easily curate videos in your Video Library however you like. You can create as many Categories as you’d like for your Video Library, and then select Subcategories under each Category.

When there are no Subcategories associated with an individual Category, you will be able to assign each video to a Category created in your account.

When Subcategories are associated with a particular Category in your Video Library, subcategories will be the actual “tags” you assign to each video in your library.

The default subcategory for all Categories will be “No Subcategory.”

To add a new Subcategory, you must first select the Category you want to associate the Subcategory with. When you select the appropriate Category it will turn blue. You can then add new Subcategories to that Category by typing in the “Add New Subcategory” textbox and clicking the blue Add Button.

Once you have added all the Categories and Subcategories you want, click the green Save button to save your changes.

Using Categories and Subcategories

There are three ways you can tag Video Library videos with Categories and Subcategories.

Option 1: Tagging Existing Video Library Videos

To tag a video that is already in your Video Library with Categories or Subcategories, click on the three dots below the thumbnail of the video from the main Video Library page. Then select “Category” from the menu that appears.

This will open a popup window with all of your existing Categories and Subcategories. Simply check the Categories and Subcategories you wish to tag the video with and click Save. If you check a Category without checking a Subcategory, the default Subcategory will be “No Subcategory.”

Option 2: Tagging videos when uploading them to the Video Library

When you click the green “Upload Video” button in the main Video Library page, you will see a popup window that asks you to name, describe, and categorize the video you will upload. Simply check the Categories and Subcategories you wish to tag the video with and click Next to finish uploading your video with the tagged Categories and Subcategories. If you check a Category without checking a Subcategory, the default Subcategory will be “No Subcategory".

Option 3: Tagging Videos when sharing from Workspace or Huddles to the Video Library

When you click the “Share” icon on a video in your Workspace or Huddles, and choose to share the video to the Library, you will see existing Categories and Subcategories listed on the popup that appears. Simply check the Categories and Subcategories you wish to tag the video with and click Share. If you check a Category without checking a Subcategory, the default Subcategory will be “No Subcategory.”

Please note, you can only tag videos with existing Categories and Subcategories. To add new Categories and Subcategories, please see the section above.

Categories and Subcategories are a flexible and customizable way for you to curate, sort, and share videos in your Video Library. There are no limits to the number of Categories and Subcategories you create in your Video Library, so you can use them however you want to help keep your Video Library organized.
